Q-12 System

A system that is manually fed which creates a unique distribution pack using a combination of corrugated board and shrink film. Its niche is packaging random, mixed items, both singularly and in small quantities.

The film retains the product tightly in position inside the carton, which is formed around the base and product on the machine, ultimately producing a very neat and robust package ready for dispatch into the courier network.

Up to three different pack (carton) heights can be run completely at random to avoid batching.

Add on board scanning and print and apply labelling to create a single operator system capable of handling a high percentage of order profiles.

The Q-12 system and pack have been widely used in the distribution market for more than two decades, so it certainly has ‘proof of concept’.
Typical products; books, media, gaming, print, electricals and more…

U-Board

A flexible packaging system consisting standard modular machines integrated as a system to suit end user requirements. It’s a big brother to Q-12, but more targeted to wholesale sized orders. It uses a combination of two pieces of corrugate (inner fitment and outer FEFCO 0201 carton) and internal shrink film to create a range of product retention packs.

It is common for the system to be operated using 3 and 5 carton sizes which can be introduced completely at random. Each carton has a matching U-Board (a flat low-grade blank that forms into a square U). Operator places goods onto the central part of the U-Board, releases into film wrapper and tunnel to create the internal part of the pack. This is then lifted and lowered into the corresponding carton. When carton is closed and all flaps sealed (either manually or by machine) the U-board is naturally held in position, and the products also firmly retained by the film.

Add automatic scanning and print and apply labelling to complete the automation. Being modular the system can be installed in phases over a period to spread investment and match order growth. Utilisation of standard machine units also creates good residual value.

The U-board system and pack have been widely used among Book Distributors on both sides of the pond.

Typical products; books, media, gaming, print, and an assortment of stable items ………

Coldseal

A system used to pack a wide range of product types inline and automatically. The machine uses two reels of ‘Coldseal’ material which is used to sandwich and seal products tightly inside. The pack is low cost and very durable in transit.

There are many Coldseal materials available for use one a single machine; paper, corrugated, polythene, linerboard and polypaper.

There is a range of models available so that the right machine can be chosen to best suit the application, taking into consideration factors such as product type, size and throughput.

Rectangular and square products can be packed easily and quickly, whilst the width is consistent, length of the package is adjusted to suit the length of each individual product, so to minimise the amount of waste and increase material yield.

Orders can be batched so that a different width of material can be run to best suit product size and again optimise the material usage and cost.

Add additional features such as automatic bar code reading, document printing and insertion, and print and apply labelling.

Used multiple times for packaging books, media, gifts and games, apparel, industrial products, spare parts and many more…

Carton Reduction

There is a selection of intelligent packaging systems on the market, widely produced across Europe, that concentrate on sizing each carton to suit its contents, creating a smaller end package that is easier to handle, could vastly reduce cost of shipping (if charged by volume rather than per unit) and reduces carbon footprint by ensuring each vehicle is carrying more product and less air!

Systems are designed to accept a wide range of different sized standard FEFCO 0200 cartons completely at random. When each order has been picked and packed into the best sized carton, the equipment will measure inside the box to ascertain maximum product height. The next step is to then cut he carton down to size or crease and fold down the excess corrugated. Once the carton has been height reduced a 4- flap lid is automatically applied.

Suitable for almost every product type including unstable and cylindricals…
